WYC presents: Raise up a Song
The Wellington Youth Choir presents their final concert of 2016. Recently returned from their successful tour to Nelson and Blenheim, the choir is in fine form and excited to finish the season with a bang.
Directed by Hazel Fenemor and with support from Jared Corbett and Penelope Hooson, this concert is a collection of both lively and luscious choral works that highlight the communicative power of music. The variety of this programme allows the choir to showcase their ability to perform high quality music in a range of styles with feeling and meaning.
The programme contrasts light-hearted and rhythmic pieces such as Tequila Samba, with the complex and harmonically divine style of Mendelssohn and Eric Whitacre. Also included are folk songs, a waiata, and gospel. Come along for an entertaining evening celebrating these choral favourites.
